We're cold. We lost our power so did CISAR - Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue, 12 miles from Bloomington.
This no-kill shelter was still without heat and water as of Monday morning. It can take days to restore power.
There are 120 cats and 70-plus dogs in a barn without light, heat and water.
Volunteers bring snow in to melt. Animals are drinking water as it comes out of bottles while filling bowls. It freezes, almost instantly.
Cat rooms, usually heated, are dark and cold. Dogs have hay in their kennels and comforters around, but not enough for everyone. They huddle to stay warm. They're shaking - still no power.
Isn't CISAR a priority for power restoration? Humans can go places for heat. Where can 200 animals go?
Troop 716 held a shower for CISAR at K-Mart recently. Thanks to those who donated. Pat and Gary, the shelter owners, are extremely grateful!
The need now is for used blankets, comforters, towels, mats, anything animals can use for warmth and bedding. Animals will get sick - or worse - if power is not restored.
Our dog, Bailey, came from CISAR, and we're so grateful. Her "pals" are waiting and are freezing now.
Please consider donating comforters, blankets, towels, sheets, rugs, etc.; volunteering at CISAR; praying for CISAR and its mission; thinking of CISAR when adding a pet to your household.
Cats roam freely in rooms, and are very loveable! Many breeds of dogs need homes too.
This community steps up to needs of those around us. I hope this touches your heart and causes you to act. CISAR is at capacity. It's our responsibility to help God's creatures who can't help themselves by supplying a comforter or giving one a home. Thanks for your warmth and love!
