Don't target farmers in wind farm debate

Much has been said recently about the "bitterness" over the proposed windmills in the Carlock area.

Groups that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. These stones were in the form of three mass-mailed letters containing extremist anti-windmill propaganda to almost every citizen in our area.

The intent of these letters was to incite hysteria about windmills, to cast doubt about the honesty and character of our county officials, to arouse suspicion of our farmer neighbors.

This group is attempting to pit the entire community against the farmers by implying a dark conspiracy between Invenergy and the farmers to keep everything hush-hush.

The community was notified as required by McLean County ordinances. Everything was done "by the book." I guess these folks want a personal visit to their door.

Now after inciting so much hatred and suspicion, they lament the "bitterness" over this issue, which they themselves started and continue to spread.

Their leaders with false humility are now saying: "There's so much bitterness and anger. We all just need to get along."

But what they really mean is that the bitterness and anger will cease when we all agree with them!

Where's the compassion that these folks tout? Shouldn't they be happy that their neighbor is doing well? Or is it "all about me" and what I can get out of it?

At the December White Oak Township meeting, this group demonstrated their ugly behavior when they tried to bully and intimidate the board into writing a letter to the McLean County Board. They were disrespectful to board members, especially the president when they didn't get their way.

The board informed them that they cannot enter into zoning issues.

Yes. I want to get along with my neighbors, but this targeting of farmers has got to stop!
