Why did gas prices rise with oil prices down?

How is it that oil prices per barrel are still falling, yet local gas stations raised prices from $1.54 per gallon for regular unleaded to $1.79 per gallon on Wednesday.

They will say it is because of holiday travel, but U.S. inventories of fuel are still rising, prices are falling and travel is down.

Who in this town controls the gas stations that they somehow almost all simultaneously raise prices? It makes me wonder if there is underground collusion taking place.

I know I should probably be sharing this with Rush or Hannity because it is a rant, but it really aggravates me how this happens around here, and no one does anything about it. What can we do though?
