Animal Control helps find loving homes

After reading a recent letter to the editor that spoke disparagingly of the employees of the McLean County Animal Control ("Animal Control wrong to euthanize beagle," YourViews, Jan. 22), I felt that another opinion was merited.

My family was recently the very fortunate beneficiaries of a puppy that had found its way to the very warm arms of the employees of Animal Control. These kind people worked very hard to make sure that this puppy was going to a home where she would be loved, where she would feel secure and where she would be part of the family.

Through the adoption process, I came to realize that this was not just a job to them, it was a calling. They are advocates for the lost, the rejected, the abandoned and the abused. They have clearly made a vow that once a dog is in their care, they will do what is right for that dog.

I admire the people at Animal Control and I greatly respect what they do day in and day out. But, most of all, I'm thankful that a little pup is safe in a home that they found for her and all of us will be eternally grateful for their efforts.
