Do Americans still have blinders on?

2013-06-21T07:00:00Z Do Americans still have blinders on? pantagraph.com
June 21, 2013 7:00 am

If a company has your information then it’s called business. If the government has your information then it’s called security. If you have businesses’ information then it’s called theft. If you have the government’s information it’s called treason.

Meanwhile, the federal government is working to disarm U.S. citizens, and trying to arm Syrian citizens.

Syria is known to be a nation friendly to terrorists, and U.S. citizens are being spied on as if we were terrorists. Is my tin-foil hat on too tight, or are your blinders still on?

The reality is on April 24,2013 CBS reported the rejection of increased taxes to include more safety at school. On April 25 the Boston Globe reported the same thing. Now, as far as obama wanting to reduce our nuclear weapons. I got that information from the Huffington post,Mother Jones and Media Matters. Instead of calling me names do some checking. The information is there, all you have to do is exert a little energy to find it,
Also, you say Chicago has gangs and that is the reason for the high crime rate. That is true as far as you went. Not only do they have gangs I am going out on a limb here but my guess the guns they are using are not registered and probably stolen. Only law abiding citizens register their guns.
The question remains, why didn't those in the school office call the police to report someone trying to get in the school or at least that there was an unwanted person on the property. Not made up, the police weren't called until he already gained entrance.

I agree, Chub. NO ONE is worth that. That's why the bulk of my commentary was NOT directed to you. Had I wanted to, I'd've responded directly.

But it appears you're a tad touchy -- why? Little too close to the truth of your petty, prickly irritations?

As with many fights, including domestic, this sort of rant is called "kitchen sinking"; that is, throwing in every argument every grievance in order to "win" rather than to resolve an issue.

It continues into ordinary discussions because the person usually hasn't learned effective ways of expressing himself (or herself), and has learned that bullying tactics often win.

    OK, I did my research:
    .
4/26/2013: "Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said he thinks "Muslim brotherhood members" have "influence" in President Barack Obama's administration."
    .
4/27/2013: "Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) sat down for an interview with WND radio this week and let loose some of his fiercest criticism of the Obama administration to date in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings. Not only did the conservative congressman attack the FBI and Justice Department for “bungling” the investigation into the Tsarnaev brothers before and after the bombings, but he also made the wild accusation that members of the Muslim Brotherhood have infiltrated President Obama‘s administration and are influencing the U.S. to ignore “radical Islam’s” war against us."
    .
4/27/2013: "Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) told a conservative radio program this week that the Obama administration “bungled” the investigation of the Boston bombing due to internal guidance from the Muslim Brotherhood."
    .
1/3/2013: "An Egyptian magazine claims that six American Islamist activists who work with the Obama administration are Muslim Brotherhood operatives who enjoy strong influence over U.S. policy. The Dec. 22 story published in Egypt's Rose El-Youssef magazine (read an IPT translation here) suggests the six turned the White House "from a position hostile to Islamic groups and organizations in the world to the largest and most important supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood. The story is largely unsourced, but its publication is considered significant in raising the issue to Egyptian readers."
    .
So..... at any rate, 99% of the postings on this topic were on far-Right websites, and most of the comments were attributed to one person: Rep. Gohmert.
    .
When I see direct evidence, involving OUTCOMES, then I'll believe this Urban Legend.

earlyriser54 , hmmm where do I start? Firstly, the strictest not strickets gun laws in Illinois are NOT related in any way with what the federal government is trying to do. Chicago has nothing to do with the rest of the country. Did it ever occur to you that the gang violence in Chicago is why the murder rate there is so high? of course not, to someone of your political persuasion it HAS to be the "liberal democrats" fault huh? I think you need to pay more attention to something besides FOX (supposed) news. President Obama wanted to expand background checks and limit magazine size. That is NOT the government trying to take away anyone's guns. Secondly, Your wonderful Republican House is a pitiful place of old men who sit around all day trying to think up new scandals to throw to the press and doing everything they can to undermine the President instead of doing the job they were elected to do! They need to stop all the repeat voting on Obamacare and start trying to actually do something to help the American public! They consistantly prove their inability to do anything effective and should be FIRED!!

Firsst of all your comment about republicans destroying 2nd amendment rights does not hold water iin my example. I used Chicago specifically because that city is saturated with liberal democrats and the strickets gun laws in the country. At the same time Chicago with all of these laws have the most firearm related murders in the country year after year. The statement you made, "our government in fact has been expanding gun owners rights" is a LIE. Under Barack Obama and his progressive administration stricter gun laws are being introduced and debated in the senate, with Biden, Reid, Shummer, and Durbin leading the charge. The only thing stopping their implementation is the republican house of representatives. There has been a tremendous increase in gun sales since Sandy Hook because law abiding citizens obviously feel that Obama and the progressives are trying to take firearms out of the hands of law abiding citizens.

So this group in the White house want to take the guns while increasing their own. Why is IRS taking shooting instructions and why does SS need weapons? Obama wants to decrease our nuclear capabilities while others are increasing theirs. Obama is going to have direct talks with hamas in Syria. This is a sharia law country. After they get rid of the ones wanting to hurt/kill them they will turn to the infidels they hate and want to kill. They will do it with the weapons obama gave them.
It was a tragedy about Sandy Hook as all other mass murders. Why didn't the office people that denied the shooter entrance call the police then instead of waiting till he got in and started shooting? Are you all awar the people in Sandy hook district refused security after the tragedy? Yep, they didn't want property taxes to increase. WHAT?

Unfortunately, republicans have done more damage to gun owner's rights than any democrat has done, liberal or otherwise, by their demonstrated ignorance of the purpose and meaning of the second amendment. Our government, in fact, has been expanding gun owner's rights, and sales of firearms has never been better. Your further use of superlatives either demonstrates your own confusion regarding American policy (or perhaps just a casual mis-use of language). I am not contesting whether Al Qaeda training has occurred in Syria (it has, as assuredly as it has occurred in the U.S.). Nor do I contest whether the U.S. government has or will send arms to Syrian rebels fighting a tyrannical government (I support this action). If you read my letter carefully, you will see that I am rejecting the original poster's claims, not yours.

It is not an unsubstantiated calim that the liberal democrats in Chicago have attempted to disarm law abiding gun onwers for over 20 years. It is no secret that every progressive liberal from Harry Reid to Mario Cuomo, to Joe Biden has attempted to use Sandy Hook as a tool to regulate the rights of law abiding citizens conerning firearem ownership. There is absolutely NO DOUBT that Syria has been the home for Al Quieda and Hezbollah training grounds for decades. And there certainly is NO DOUBT that Obama has decided to arm Syrian rebels. So much for your accusation of unsubstantiaed claims.

Every one of your statements is an unsubstantiated claim. Your final question is a logical fallacy presupposing the existence of a personal set of blinders which I have been purportedly wearing and perhaps even continue to wear. I can assure you I own no such set of optical apparatus, therefore rendering it impossible to either continue wearing them or take them off. I cannot, however, speak to the existence of your headgear, and advise that perhaps you should begin your search for answers there.
