With the recent experience of the state of Iowa in mind, it should be evident that the Republican Party is bent on destroying the right of workers to organize in this country. Labor unions played a key role in building this nation's middle class. And we are seeing the result of an assault on that middle class with every attempt to promote so-called "right-to-work" legislation.
Obviously, there is a link between the ever-shrinking middle class and the GOP's push for right-to-work, which is little more than a race to the bottom as far as working conditions and wages. It would be more honest to call the destruction of collective bargaining in America what it really is: a "right not to employ" those who won't work for the lowest wage and benefits.
