After a monthlong hiatus, the weekly flights of flowers flown straight in from South America to MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah are set to resume by the end of November.

And St. Clair County Board Chairman Mark Kern says that by the end December, a second weekly flight of flowers from Colombia and Peru will be touching down in Mascoutah to meet growing demand.

Kern predicts that flower sales will pick up again and then stay fine at least through Mother's Day.

The weekly flights of South American flowers were suspended in late September because of a cyclical downturn in the floral business. Kern notes that there are no big flower-giving holidays in either September or October.
