CHICAGO -- Chicago police say an 18th century violin worth approximately $200,000 was taken during the burglary of a home on the city's North Side.

Police say the burglary occurred sometime between midnight and 7 a.m. Tuesday by someone who apparently found a key in a planter in the yard and unlocked the door. Police say the residents were home and asleep at the time.

On a label on the violin are the words "Januarius Gagliano, Naple, 1763." Gennaro Gagliano, who was also known as Januarius, was a famed Italian violin maker.

Also taken was an Emile Ouchard bow. One expert, Graydon Barnum of the Brobst Violin Shop in Alexandria, Va., says the bow could be worth $15,000.
