08/05/08 - So I think I am finally packed and ready to go. Wow, it is hard to get things together when I really have no idea what I need and what USATF and the United States Olympic Committee are going to give me.

However, I packed fairly light, but enough to get by. Also if I have too much, I get the option of shipping things home tomorrow once I go through processing in San Jose (Calif.).

This week has gone by so fast. I still think I am jetlagged from Europe (meets in London and Monaco) and it's hard to believe I have a longer trip coming up just five weeks away because I head to Europe after the Olympics!

Training has been going pretty good. Once again, it is hard coming back from traveling 24 hours straight and only have five days at home (in Springdale, Ark.) before leaving again. It has been so hot down here as well, I guess it prepares me perfectly for Beijing.

I don't think it can get much worse than 100 degrees with humidity here in Arkansas. I am excited to get to Beijing and take part in the opening ceremonies. I have heard it is an awesome experience.

I will write again once I arrive in Beijing, and hopefully I will have some pictures to share. I want to thank everyone who has supported me and followed me. I know that I am not just racing for myself but for everyone back home. Beijing, here I come!

Editor's note: Local Olympians Christin Wurth-Thomas (1,500-meter run) and Ogonna Nnamani (women's volleyball) have agreed to write a blog for pantagraph.com of their experiences during the Summer Games in Beijing, which start Friday. They will write periodically throughout the Games.
