As a small-business owner, I want to thank Congressman Rodney Davis and Congressman Darin LaHood who fought to include real relief for small, independent businesses in the latest tax reform legislation.

Three-quarters of small businesses pay taxes at the individual rate, not as corporations. That’s because they’re organized as pass-through entities. That includes sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLCs, and S corporations.

The Tax Cut and Jobs Act in the House of Representatives phases in a 9 percent rate for small pass-through businesses that will allow for investment in both businesses and employees.

I appreciate Rep. Davis and Rep. LaHood for acknowledging the vital role these businesses play in building and maintaining a strong economy, and I encourage Congress to pass tax reform that helps Main Street.
