Republican Senators display both willful ignorance and incredible contempt for us, their fellow citizens. They have voted contempt for us. Despite clear evidence from history about the failure of "trickle down” economics, evidence from Kansas about vast tax cuts and plain common sense, these very unconservative "conservatives" are deciding to save corporations and their wealthy donors by slowing eroding our spending money.
Their tax bill provides tax cuts paid for by picking our pockets — those of us not immensely wealthy. Their bill hurts serious education, takes food away from babies, erodes the security net of health insurance — and all to feed an ideology which, disingenuously, enriches the rich and feeds their greed. But it's sugarcoated with the flimflam of a “tax cut.”
With insults, ignorance, contempt, denials, evasions and outright falsehoods, conservatives have met and continue to meet humane appeals to facts, compassion, history and patriotism. Like the president, they say things, not because they are true — but to make them true. We will probably get a tax cut, but our children and families will have less money because of the takeaways that the bill will include.
The bill seems to be the essence of a fake. It provides tax cuts to hide destroying middle class security by the removal of economic help that the government offers to invest in the future — health and education. They have sold out the true greatness of America to their donors; in the depth of their hearts, each one of them knows it.
