More than 14 years ago, State's Attorney Tom Brown along with Sheriff Bob McCarty developed a plan to combat drugs in Livingston County. What evolved was to be known as the Pro-Active unit. Jack Wiser, the Fairbury police chief, along with Chief Henson of Dwight, and Chief Newsome of Pontiac supported and provided officers and resources. For many years we had an organized and effective law enforcement unit that benefited the County. After Tony Childress was elected, all three municipalities withdrew from the Pro-Active unit.
Jack Wiser is committed to re-establishing this relationship. In light of the drug epidemic that plagues the county, state, and nation, this is an effort that will provide substantial benefits. Jack has proposed a dedicated school resource officer to help protect our children and grandchildren. Jack Wiser deserves our support to provide honest and ethical leadership for the sheriff’s department.
