Each week citizens watch as all the local taxing bodies continue to raise taxes, while businesses downsize or leave Illinois. Illinois once had 29 electoral votes, we now have 20. People are leaving for states with zero income tax, and lower property tax, zero tax on groceries, and so on. McLean County, and Illinois, are losing.
Elected officials need to remember they are a tax-paying citizens first, board members second. When you get your paycheck, you don’t spend more than comes in. We are tired of giving you more money, so start cutting employees and programs, and learn to live within means. Quit taxing us because of your ineptness.
We own property on Lake Bloomington but will never build; the taxes are too high. So now your taxes are thwarting growth. That is happening statewide as we witness Illinois spiral into bankruptcy, and business after business leave Bloomington, Peoria and Decatur, for Texas, Arizona and Florida.
Pretty soon, there will be few left to tax, except you who are the elected officials. Just don’t follow me to Florida.
