I am ashamed of U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin. I have known he is anti-family since he voted against parental notification when a minor is seeking an abortion. More recently he has shown himself to be anti-Christian.
Recently President Trump nominated the highly-qualified Notre Dame law professor Amy Coney Barrett, who happens to be a devout, pro-life Roman Catholic, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Sen. Durbin insultingly asked if Professor Barrett considered herself "an orthodox Catholic" and refused to accept her answer. U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein called Professor Barrett's Christian faith "a concern" and snidely declared that "the dogma lives loudly within you," a phrase she probably considered insulting and clever.
Both of these senior senators, in an open meeting, were mocking the professor's beliefs and insinuating they made her unfit to serve on the bench because she "dares" to be a Christian. This is appalling. The ones who are unfit to serve are Durbin and Feinstein for flagrantly flouting our Constitution which clearly states that there is no religious test to hold public office.
Earlier this year, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders declared President Trump's nominee for deputy director of the White House Office of Management and Budget unfit for office because of the candidate's Christian faith. Has the Democrat Party gone completely off its rocker?
As a World War II veteran, I have seen a lot but this kind of flagrant anti-Christian behavior by people in power scares me. Will they next declare Christians unfit to vote?
