You can search a number of archives at Pantagraph.com. This page is intended to make that process easier for you to understand.
- Search archive (NewsBank): This is the first (and default) option in the search bar at the top of the page. Choosing this option searches our NewsBank archive of Pantagraph articles dating back to 1989. A maximum of 200 articles will be returned in a single search, beginning with the most recent articles and working back to older articles. To narrow your search, enter more words that you think appear in the article you are looking for. If you enter multiple words, only articles with all those words will be returned.
Searching the NewsBank archive is your best bet to find a local story that appeared in the Pantagraph. You can search with additional criteria (specific range of dates/years, etc.) by using the advanced search options. Searching is free. To download an entire article, you must register and pay using a credit card. (Instructions are provided during the download process; pricing can be found here.) Note: The most recent articles may not appear in the NewsBank archive for up to 14 days.
- Search the last 14 days (Pantagraph.com): This is the second option in the search bar at the top of the page. Choosing this option searches only the last 14 days of stories published on Pantagraph.com. Note that not all articles that appeared in the printed edition are published online (or vice-versa).
Note: You can search this free archive for stories older than 14 days by using the Pantagraph.com advanced archive search. The archive goes back to January 2006. For stories older than January 2006, try searching the NewsBank archive instead.
- Searching Pantagraph Classifieds: This is the third option in the search bar at the top of the page. Choosing this option searches the entire current contents of Pantagraph Classifieds, in all ad classifications. If you enter multiple words, only ads containing all those words will be returned. To search individual sections of classifieds visit the Classifieds site.
- Searching for area jobs: This is the fourth option in the search bar at the top of the page. This option searches job listings in our Central Illinois Yahoo Hotjobs site.
- Searching the Web: This is the fifth option in the search bar at the top of the page. This option uses Yahoo! Search to find something on the World Wide Web.
- Nation/World AP news search: This option is not in the search bar at the top of the page. If you are looking for an Associated Press state, national, or world wire story, you can search the AP archive. Note: Retrieving articles from this site may require registration and a fee. This link is provided as a courtesy to Pantagraph customers, but we do not provide technical support for the AP archive.
