Area volleyball roundup: Heyworth nips Flanagan

Brittany Feger notched 10 kills and four blocks in a 25-13, 19-25, 25-19 home win over Flanagan. The Hornets (1-4, 1-1) received 20 assists and seven service points from Kelli Shaffer and 10 digs and seven service points from Lauren Conner.

Flanagan (6-3, 0-2) saw Karie Timmerman collect seven kills and three blocks. Anna Delheimer had nine assists and 11 service points while Jackie Russow had eight digs.

Thurmond leads Dee-Mack

Haley Thurmond hammered 11 kills and added seven digs as Deer Creek-Mackinaw downed Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 25-10, 25-11, in Heart of Illinois Conference play at Gibson City.

Kate Poorbaugh handed out 20 assists and put up three blocks for the Chiefs (7-1, 2-0) while Lauren Schmidt recorded 12 service points. GCMS fell to 2-5 and 0-2.

Lexington downs Ridgeview

Maggie Johansen's eight kills and two blocks sparked Lexington (3-1, 2-0) to a home win over Ridgeview (2-3, 0-2). Mandy Feit added 17 digs and Jessica Kraft 15 assists for the Minutemen, who got eight service points from Jonica Klein.

Lauren Kellar had three kills and nine digs for Ridgeview (2-3, 0-2), which also received three kills and one block from Melynda Denhan. Taylor Zimmerman added nine digs and seven services points for the Mustangs, whose assist leader with Dusty Gleeson with 11.

Tremont bests Blue Ridge

Lynsie Watson registered nine service points and five kills to lead Tremont (4-4, 2-0) past Blue Ridge (3-5, 1-1), 25-21, 25-16, at Farmer City. Kaylie Endress added five kills and five digs, Janelle Barrow 13 assists and Whitney Volk six blocks for the Turks.

Devin Houser had six service points and nine digs for Blue Ridge while Danielle Thompson recorded 11 assists.

Ludwig powers Tri-Valley

Central Michigan-recruit Catherine Ludwig had 14 service points, including three aces, and dished out 17 assists as Tri-Valley posted a 25-13, 25-18 win at LeRoy.

Lauryn Reiners had 12 kills and seven blocks for the Vikings (4-0, 2-0), who also got 10 digs from Michelle Compesto.

Jill Morgan led LeRoy (5-4, 0-2) with three kills and two blocks while Kirsti Clawson recorded eight assists.

Mahomet trips Prairie Central

Lindsey Storm's six kills and nine digs paced Mahomet-Seymour (7-2, 2-0) to a Corn Belt Conference win over visiting Prairie Central (0-4, 0-2).

Dani Bunch added six kills and two blocks for the Bulldogs, who also received two blocks and eight digs from Jillian Ryan. Mel Weimer provided 22 assists.

Adrianna Kulpa led Prairie Central with six kills and Jackie Sheppard had three blocks. Katie Rathbun chipped in seven service points and seven digs while Carrie Diller had 13 assists.

Mount Pulaski drops Clinton

Christina Stoll and Morgan Litterly each had five kills in a 25-9, 25-9 Mount Pulaski (2-2) victory at Clinton. Jeri Kaye Turner and Ellen Olson each had eight assists.

Shelby Huffman had 11 digs and Sara Blythe two kills for Clinton.

Princeton tops Streator

In spite of Erin Harcar's 11 digs, Streator (2-2) fell to visiting Princeton (7-1), 25-21, 25-21.

Mollie McMeen and Haleigh Rose combined for 12 service points for the Bulldogs (3-3, 0-2) while Chloe Schmitt and Paige Neaterour contributed 18 assists. Weslie Gaff added six kills for the Bulldogs.

Roanoke-Benson tumbles

Junior blocker Kelsey Sauder had a season-high 12 blocks, but visiting Ottawa Marquette (1-2, 1-0) downed Roanoke-Benson, 25-22, 25-21.

Mary Bachman had 10 assists for the Rockets (0-4, 0-1) while Hannah Knepp tallied five kills.

Olympia overpowers Pontiac

Lydia Schmidgall collected 12 service points, six aces, and four blocks to lead Olympia (6-2, 1-1) to a 25-18, 25-17 victory over Pontiac at Stanford.

The Spartans received 14 assists from Kelsey Heiser and seven kills from Melissa Phillips.

Pontiac (0-4, 0-2) was led by Ashley Timmerman's three service points, two kills and eight digs.

El Paso-Gridley upends Fisher

Mattie Fairchild had 13 service points, seven aces, and 13 assists to pace El Paso-Gridley to a 25-13, 25-18 win over host Fisher. Tamara Waugh had 12 digs for the victors (4-0, 1-0) and Janelle James six kills.

Taylor Jane had nine service points and Jordan Hobbs and nine assists for the Bunnies (4-3, 1-1). Tiffany Wallick added five kills.

Illini Central prevails

Kelsey Laugel registered 13 service points and 10 assists to lead Illini Central past Midwest Central, 25-10, 28-26, at Mason City. Annie Cave had 10 kills and Sierra Burris four aces for the Cougars (8-1).

Eureka falls to Rantoul

Sarah Moyer's 20 digs and Chelsea Prosser's six kills and two blocks couldn't save Eureka (2-1, 1-1) from a 21-25, 28-26, 26-24 loss to Rantoul. Caty Eeten had 11 assists for the host Hornets.

Rantoul is 1-3 and 1-1.

Dwight suffers loss

Carly Perschnick's eight kills, six digs and four blocks weren't enough as Dwight (2-2, 1-1) lost to host Peotone, 27-25, 25-23.

Kolby Hoffman added seven service points and two kills for the Trojans, whose assist leader was Amie Hogan with 10. Stephanie Humbert added six digs.
