CARBONDALE - Tabby Bell shot a 93 Friday to lead Central Catholic High School efforts in the Girls Class A State Golf Tournament at the par-72 Hickory Ridge Public Golf Center.
Bell stands in 26th place individually as the Saints totaled 401 as a team and stand in seventh place heading into today's final round.
Effingham St. Anthony holds first place with a 335, five strokes in front of Massac County. Champaign St. Thomas More is third at 340.
Brooke Beeler of Hillsboro shot 3-over-par 75 for the individual lead, helping her team to fourth place in the standings at 371.
Beeler, a junior, survived four bogeys on a cold but clear day with a birdie on No. 8. Jaclyn Jansen of St. Anthony, another junior, and Peoria Christian senior Jessica Parmenter are two shots back.
Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's Allison Arends shot 92 (24th place) to lead Pantagraph area efforts. Fieldcrest's Kathryn Walber shot 98 (46th) and Iroquois West's Amy Keigher carded 100 (54th).
Also contributing to Central Catholic's team total were Ashley Schopp (100), Elizabeth Swanlund (100) and Katie Crawford (108).
