Dwight 20, 14
Dwight High School running back James Nakashima registered 183 rushing yards and two scores, including the game-winner, to lead the Trojans over Lisle 20-14 in overtime in an Interstate Eight Conference game at Lisle on Friday night. The win probably assured the Trojans of a playoff berth.
Curt Perschnick put the Trojans on the board with a 4-yard touchdown reception from Zack Myers in the first quarter. The Lions answered with touchdowns in both the first and third quarters to lead 14-7 heading into the fourth quarter. With just seconds remaining in regulation, Nakashima was able tie the game on a 1-yard touchdown run to force overtime.
After Lisle gained just a few yards on their first two plays of overtime, Perschnick came up with a clutch interception and turned it over to the Trojan offense. Nakashima scored the game-winner from 6 yards out and gave Dwight (5-4, 4-2) its fifth victory of the season.
Streator 27, Rock Falls 20
Streator running back Jerrad Clark rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns as the Bulldogs earned a season-ending, nonconference home win over Rock Falls.
Clark's 8-yard score in the first quarter put Streator (2-7) up early 6-0. Marc Lamengo then had a 91-yard punt return for a touchdown and a 23-yard scoring reception to help the Bulldogs build a 14-point lead at halftime.
Streator scored its final points on Clark's 35-yard TD run with under eight minutes remaining in the game.
Clinton 41, Sullivan 29
John Smith's 188 yards and four touchdowns paced Clinton's second-half comeback as the Maroons defeated Sullivan in an Okaw Valley Conference game at Clinton.
The Redskins (1-8, 1-8) scored three touchdowns and had a safety en route to a 23-9 halftime lead over Clinton. Smith started the Maroons' rally by reaching the end zone three times in the third quarter, while Ian Dejaynes added a 41-yard scoring run. In all, the Maroons recorded 47 second-half points, 28 in the third quarter, to get their third victory of the season.
