Bloomington High School ran its record to 3-0 with a 25-15, 25-22 win over Springfield as Kristin Stauter broke the school record for career assists Thursday at Bloomington.
Stauter entered the match six shy of the 1,509 she needed to break the record and responded by dishing out 19 assists. The Illinois State recruit also led with 11 service points including four aces.
Georgia Tech-recruit Ashley Beyer hammered 10 kills while sophomore Lauren Seyller chipped in nine service points including four aces.
BHS climbed from 25th to 21st in the PrepVolleyball.com national rankings released Thursday.
NCHS dominates
Vanessa Gerig provided 16 service points, two aces and nine assists to Normal Community in a 25-9, 25-11 Big 12 Conference triumph at Decatur MacArthur (2-7, 0-2).
The Ironmen (3-0, 1-0) received eight kills from Jenny Menendez and eight digs from University of Illinois recruit Rachel Feldman.
Lincoln edges Normal West
Despite 19 kills and two blocks from Gardner-Webb-recruit Laura Wilcox, Normal West (1-2) dropped a 21-25, 25-12, 22-25 decision to host Lincoln (6-3).
Kelsey Detweiler charted 33 digs and 12 service points while Trish Waibel added 20 digs and seven kills. Nova Southeasternr-recruit Allyson Keith contributed 23 assists and Erin McGinnis chipped in 19 digs.
Jamie McFadden paced the Railsplitters with 18 kills and nine service points. Ashley Bonaparte had 16 assists and Molly Goodrich 12 digs. Ashley Meyrick notched four blocks.
