MAHOMET - A first-half scoring flurry enabled the Normal Community High School boys soccer team to capture its sixth regional title and first since 2004 with a 6-1 victory over Danville in the Class AA Mahomet-Seymour Regional title game Saturday.

The Ironmen (21-1-2) advance to Tuesday's NCHS Sectional semifinal where they will meet Champaign Centennial, a 1-0 winner in overtime against Champaign Central. The contest starts at 4 p.m.

NCHS scored four goals in the first half to put the game away early. Kyle Wallace scored two of those goals, while Paul Ostrosky added one goal and an assist. Jeremy Ried scored the final goal of the half.

The barrage continued in the second half as Wallace scored his third goal on a penalty kick and Ried added his second goal. All told, NCHS outshot the Vikings 18-5.

"We moved the ball very well," NCHS coach Don Ideran said. "We pretty much did what we wanted."

Aaron Moore and Sam Napolitano each had assists for the Ironmen.

"I'm very pleased with how we're looking right now," Ideran said.
