NORMAL - A total of 730 runners will compete in the four races in the Illinois Elementary School Association state cross country meet Saturday on the 3,200-meter course at Maxwell Park.

The Class A girls race begins at 10 a.m. with the Class A boys event at 10:45 a.m. The Class AA girls race is at 11:45 a.m. with the Class AA boys event at 12:30 p.m.

The awards ceremonies will be in the Parkside Junior High School gymnasium, located near the course.

The top 25 individuals in each race, and members of the top four teams in each race earn medallions. The top four schools also receive a trophy.

In Class A girls, 178 runners from 52 schools will compete. In Class AA girls, there are 182 runners from 45 schools.

In Class A boys, there are 189 runners from 55 schools competing, and in Class AA boys, there are 181 runners from 49 schools competing.

There are 11 fifth-graders competing in the four races, 103 sixth-graders, 261 seventh-graders and 355-eighth graders.
