5 years ago (2001): Sophomore Nick Chiodo enjoyed a career night by intercepting two passes, recovering a fumble and quarterbacking the U High offense to a 33-6 victory over Olympia. Andre Brown passed for 201 yards and three touchdowns as Bloomington blitzed Decatur Eisenhower, 38-7.
15 years ago (1991): Junior field goal kicker Cameron Bair gave Illinois State all its points on a pair of field goals in the final 5:19 to boost the Redbirds over Indiana State, 6-3. Bair provided the margin of victory with a 33-yard field goal with two seconds remaining before a Parents Day crowd of 13,101.
25 years ago (1981): Jerry Leggett headlines an impressive list of coaches set to speak at the 12th annual Toluca Basketball Coaches clinic this weekend. Leggett led the Quincy Blue Devils to the 1981 Class AA state championship and his team was voted the No. 1 high school team in the nation.
50 years ago (1956): Fired up more than Elvis Presley during one of his musical salutes to the immortal Hound Dog, Trinity pounded out a 12-0 Intercity football upset of Bloomington. The Saints were led by the splendid running of Jim Shipley and the field generalship of Steve Frost behind a rugged forward wall.
