Prairie Central 56, Rochester 33

Senior running back Ben Herr ran for 202 yards and three touchdowns as Prairie Central High School locked up the outright Corn Belt Conference title Friday night with a 56-33 victory over Rochester at Fairbury.

The win boosted the undefeated Hawks, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, to 9-0 overall and 8-0 in the Corn Belt.

Prairie Central jumped out to a 21-7 lead in the first quarter on a 2-yard run by Herr, a 15-yard run by Seth Broquard and an 81-yard kick return by Phillip Short. Herr, who ran the ball 18 times, added scoring runs of six yards in the second period and 16 yards in the third quarter.

Broquard added 77 yards rushing for the Hawks, who led 35-13 at halftime.

Prairie Central quarterback Jerid Coleman completed 8 of 10 pass attempts for 111 yards, including touchdown throws of 17 yards to Short and 27 yards to Louie Groce. Mike Herrera completed the Hawks' scoring with a 9-yard run in the final quarter.

Rochester (5-4, 4-4) was led by quarterback Wil Lunt, who completed 30 of 43 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns and added a touchdown run. Logan Butler caught nine passes for 123 yards, including a 70-yard scoring bomb from Lunt in the third quarter.

Pontiac 42, Olympia 0

Junior quarterback Patrick Miller completed 11 of 20 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns and Alex Smith rushed for 165 yards to lead the Indians as Pontiac defeated Olympia in a conference game at Stanford.

The Indians finished the regular season 6-2 overall and in the Corn Belt, good for third place in the league. Olympia ended the season 0-9, 0-8.

Pontiac jumped out to a 22-0 lead after one period and cruised to the victory.

Smith scored on a 10-yard run before Miller and Brad Miller connected on scoring passes of 13 and 30 yards. Nick Dinardi added two of four extra-point kicks on the night for the first quarter advantage.

Brad Miller scored on a 6-yard run in the second quarter before Smith hauled in a screen pass from Patrick Miller and rambled 32 yards for a touchdown and a 35-0 lead after three quarters.

Sean Young added a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the final score.

Brad Miller finished with three receptions for 51 yards for the Indians, and Eric Davis added a team-high five receptions for 88 yards.

Tyler Gottschalk had 48 yards rushing on six carries to lead Olympia.

Eureka 20, Rantoul 14

Ryan Mountz scored from two yards out with 47 seconds remaining as Eureka (2-7, 2-6) ended its season on a high note with a conference win at Eureka.

Quarterback B.J. Zobrist completed 13 of 29 pass attempts for 253 yards for Eureka, including a 11-yard scoring pass to Dean Eastman in the first quarter for an early 7-0 lead. Zobrist added an 11-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Hornets a 14-7 lead.

Eastman finished with 12 receptions for 252 yards. Mountz was the leading ground gainer for the Hornets with 37 yards on 12 tries.

Rantoul (2-7, 2-6) tied the game at 14-14 in the third period on a 15-yard run by Greg Foust. Foust led all rushers with 125 yards on 19 carries.
