Coaches: Sharon Dingman is 134-89 in eight seasons at ISU. Brenda Winkeler has a three-year record of 29-38 at SIU. Mike Swan has a 49-85 record in five seasons at Evansville.
ISU injuries: Outside hitter Katie Seyller remains sidelined by a sprained left ankle. Sophomore outside hitter Peggy Riessen is questionable with a back injury.
What to watch for
- ISU opens Missouri Valley Conference play after suffering a 32-30, 30-22, 30-12 loss to No. 20-ranked Ohio State on Tuesday at Redbird Arena that snapped a five-match winning streak. Junior right-side hitter M.C. Richmond led the Redbirds with 15 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
- The Redbirds own a 57-5 lead in the all-time series with SIU, including a 31-match winning streak in regular-season play.
- Evansville claimed its first-ever win over ISU last season at Carson Center after a 25-match winless drought.
- Richmond (3.74 kills per game) and senior middle blocker Kari Staehlin (3.42) both rank among the Valley leaders for ISU.
