BLOOMINGTON - Ali Wulfers and Brianna Braastad won the doubles championship to lead Normal Community High School to the team title Saturday in the Bloomington Sectional girls tennis tournament.
Wulfers and Braastad downed Bloomington's Tara Clemens and Emily White in the finals, 7-6, 6-2. NCHS' Kendyl Fisher and Kristen Laird placed third after defeating a Morton duo in the third place match, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
NCHS ended with 27 points to 24 for BHS. U High took third with 20 behind the singles championship from senior Catherine Butts.
Butts downed BHS' Roza Mezhoud in the finals, 6-4, 6-4, while Normal West's Cassie DeVore took third over NCHS' Ava Maxwell, 6-1, 6-1.
The top four finishers in singles and doubles advance to next weekend's State Tournament at Mount Prospect.
