Normal Community went 1-2 and finished in sixth place out of 24 teams in the Glenbard East Autumn Fest Tournament at Glen Ellyn.
NCHS fell to Prairie Ridge, 18-25, 25-20, 25-21; defeated Crystal Lake South, 20-25, 25-16, 25-22, and lost to Joliet Catholic, 27-25, 25-17.
Hannah Stout had 11 kills and Jenny Sandel 10 for NCHS (25-5) against Prairie Ridge. Nicki Gerig had 31 assists, Rachel Feldman 14 digs and Jenny Menendez four aces among her eight service points.
Menendez had a team-high seven kills in the win over Crystal Lake South and her sister, Jordan Menendez, had 11 service points and two aces. Lori Johnson added three blocks, Gerig 31 assists and Feldman 12 digs.
Stout led with seven kills and Sandel had six against Joliet Catholic. Gerig contributed 18 assists, Feldman six digs and Jenny Menendez seven service points.
"I think it was a great weekend for us. It was great competition, the best we face all year," NCHS coach Andrea Kenny said. "We kind of struggled last week so I felt like we came out playing better in the end than we did going into the tournament. I think that's a big key for us at this point in the season. I thought Hannah Stout had a great tournament for us offensively."
