5 years ago (2002): James Wade ran for 203 yards on 11 carries with three touchdowns and also caught a long scoring pass as Bloomington's unbeaten football team flexed its big-play muscle in a 53-13 victory over Normal West. Evan McNamara scored five touchdowns as Lexington beat Woodland, 48-0.
15 years ago (1992): Illinois State won the third annual Illinois State Classic on an overall point system after its 3-3 overtime tie with Vermont's soccer team. The Redbirds gained the tie on Jan Ruehlicke's penalty kick with 1:01 remaining in overtime. Wisconsin upset 13th ranked Creighton, 2-0, and took second place.
25 years ago (1982): John Kasch and Scot Regner rallied from a three-hole deficit and birdied five of the remaining nine holes to defeat Dave Hundman and Scott Henderson, 1 up, in the first round of the B-N Two-Man Best Position Match Play Golf Tournament at Crestwicke Country Club. Kasch and Regnr shot seven-under-par 65.
50 years ago (1957): A faked-out official mistakenly nullified a 73-yard touchdown run by Trinity's Tony Jaskowiak and Pontiac High School escaped with a 6-0 football victory. Jaskowiak was in the clear, but the official thought another player had the ball and whistled the play dead at the line of scrimmage.
