Tri-Valley 20, St. Thomas More 14
Senior Ian Conkling recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown in overtime to lead Tri-Point High School to a 20-14 victory over St. Thomas More in a Sangamon Valley Conference game Friday night at Champaign.
Trailing 6-0 after one period, Conkling caught a 42-yard scoring pass from quarterback Francis Jepsen and the Nick Stanek conversion run gave the Chargers an 8-6 halftime advantage.
St. Thomas More answered with a touchdown in the third quarter for a 14-8 advantage before Tri-Point tied the game with 3:01 to play on a Stanek 5-yard touchdown run. A two-point conversion run failed, sending the game to overtime.
Jepsen completed 9 of 20 passes for 139 yards and one touchdown, while Conkling led the Chargers with four receptions for 113 yards.
Stanek had 104 yards rushing on 21 carries to lead Tri-Point (2-7, 1-6) while Payton Mogged finished with 41 yards on six carries.
Watseka 21, Iroquois West 20
A 48-yard pass from Zach Gray to Cory McTaggert and Gray's two-point conversion run with 1:22 remaining rallied Watseka to a Sangamon Valley victory over Iroquois West at Watseka.
Iroquois West (5-4) had taken a 20-13 lead on a 6-yard touchdown run by Alex Hubert with 1:49 left. But the extra point kick failed.
The Raiders had taken a 14-7 first-half lead on Trace Coleman touchdown passes of 15 yards to Kyle White and 23 yards to Jeremy Schade.
Coleman completed 17 of 28 passes for 198 yards. Hubert rushed for 57 yards and Coleman 55.
Gray completed 7 of 11 passes for 80 yards for Watseka (4-5).
St. Joseph-Ogden 49, PBL 14
Isaiah Olson threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns as St. Joseph-Ogden wrapped up an undefeated regular season with a 49-14 Sangamon Valley Conference win over Paxton-Buckley-Loda Friday at St. Joseph.
St. Joseph (9-0 overall, 7-0 in Sangamon Valley) jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and extended the margin to 42-0 by halftime.
Mark Gones rushed for 141 yards and three scores for St. Joseph as the Spartans rolled for 262 yards on the ground en route to 509 yards in total offense. JC Ducey caught 5 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown for St. Joseph.
Tyler Overstreet was 10-for-19 for 124 yards passing and added another 23 yards and two touchdowns rushing for PBL who finish the regular season 5-4 overall and 5-2 in the Sangamon Valley. Jessie Adwell ran for 61 yards on 10 carries for the Panthers.
