BLOOMINGTON - When asked if he has ever witnessed such a dominant performance like Ryan Connolly's 37-point, 21-rebound effort, Springfield Lanphier basketball coach John Angelo immediately spoke the truth.

"In the NBA," Angelo quipped.

It was that dominant.

Connolly led Lanphier to a 62-50 victory over Peoria Notre Dame in the HDOA Shootout at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday.

Connolly snared 15 of his rebounds on the offensive glass and scored at least eight points in each quarter.

"We weren't knocking down shots," said Connolly, who is garnering interest from Illinois-Chicago, Southern Illinois and Eastern Kentucky. "… A lot of shots were short and I just work on position. I knew if the ball was coming off the end I was going to get it."

The constant rebounds frustrated the Irish.

"For whatever reason, we couldn't get our kids to respond to a plea that it may take two people on (Connolly) to stop him," said Notre Dame coach Eddie Mathews, whose team falls to 5-3. "We couldn't get the kids to commit."

Nick O'Neill led Notre Dame with 12 points, while Mason Alwan added 10. The Lions (6-2) received eight points from Jo-Paul Jones.
