5 years ago (2001): Kyle Eash threw three touchdown passes in Illinois Wesleyan's 37-0 football rout of North Park. Jordan Carpenter and John Higgins placed first and second to lead University High to its second straight Corn Belt Conference golf title. Meghan Naik led U High to its fifth straight Corn Belt girls golf title.

15 years ago (1991): David Bozarth, a junior at North Central College and a graduate of Normal Community High School, was one of two soccer players named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week. Bozarth scored two goals in leading North Central to as 3-2 win over Millikin.

25 years ago (1981): Central Catholic, its depth being tested, edged Pontiac by two shots to win the Corn Belt Conference golf title at Washburn. Central senior Ryan Deneen won a one-hole playoff for medalist honors with teammate Mike Craig and Eureka's Brian Gerard, all three shooting 83 in rain and high winds.

50 years ago (1956): Illinois Wesleyan and Lake Forest battled to a 7-7 draw in the CCI opener at the IWU stadium. An undermanned, crippled band of Titans rose up in all their might after seeing the Foresters convert an intercepted pass into a 7-0 lead, knotted the score with a sustained march and were rolling again when a fumble cost a chance to win.
