5 years ago (2002): Minus six players who served the second game of an eight-game suspension, Normal West got 25 points and 12 rebounds from Stan Chismark and defeated University High, 54-48, in the Intercity Boys Basketball Tournament. Bloomington tripped Central Catholic, 73-51.

15 years ago (1992): Seniors Brian Van Weelden and Ryan Weichman flexed their muscles inside for a combined 39 points and 33 rebounds to lead Flanagan past Heyworth, 80-60. … Brad Strebeck exploded for 31 points in the first half and finished with 38 as Gibson City downed Sheldon 90-71.

25 years ago (1982): Sophomore guard Brad Duncan wiped away Illinois State's early shooting frustrations with some nifty distance marksmanship, and the Redbirds came back from a six-point deficit to turn back Chicago State, 62-54, in college basketball at Horton Field House.

50 years ago (1957): Joe Green was elected captain for the past season and Bob Pietsch was named captain for the 1958 campaign as Bloomington High School football coach Bloice Bess awarded letters to 28 players.
