BLOOMINGTON - The Normal Community High School girls tennis team won its third consecutive Big 12 Conference Tournament Saturday, scoring 84 points to best runner-up Bloomington by 14.

The Ironmen's winning streak is the league's longest since BHS won six in a row between 1998 and 2003. NCHS came in as the favorite.

"It's still never comfortable because Bloomington is right there with us," said Ironmen coach Jim Boswell, whose team took a commanding nine-point lead after sweeping Friday's doubles titles.

"The season is a marathon. We focus from day one on this tournament and the girls held true to their goals."

Normal West placed seventh with 36 points.

Wulfers and Braastad won at No. 1 doubles while Fisher and Laird prevailed at No. 2 and Maxwell and Lloyd triumphed at No. 3.
