PAXTON - The PBL High School football team rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the game 28-28 on a Tyler Overstreet 1-yard touchdown run before Momence outscored PBL 8-0 in overtime to post a 36-28 Sangamon Valley Conference win on Friday night.
PBL, which had won five straight games, dropped to 5-3 overall and 5-1 in league play while Momence improved to 4-4, 4-2. The Panthers play at conference leading St. Joseph-Ogden next week needing a win to assure themselves a playoff spot.
Momence led 7-0 after one period before PBL took a 14-7 halftime lead on an Evan Edwards 11-yard touchdown run and a Bobby Wright 28-yard score.
The Panthers upped the advantage to 21-7 in the third quarter when Evans found the end zone again, this time from 28 yards out, before Momence pulled to within 21-14 with one period to play.
Momence scored twice in the fourth quarter to lead 28-21 leading up to Overstreet's touchdown.
Momence scored in overtime on a Simpson 1-yard run and added the 2-point conversion run for the final.
