ST. LOUIS - The Bloomington High School basketball team took a six-point lead into the final minute and hung on for a 63-60 decision over Oakville, Mo., in the Midwest Showdown Saturday.

D'Mitri Riggs led the Purple Raiders (7-1) with 23 points. Kenny King added 12 points and four assists while Darieus Perry added four assists and eight points. Tylon McAllister and James Monroe each grabbed six rebounds.

"We spread it out and made some free throws at the end," said BHS coach Jamie Codron of the final minute. "It was a scrappy game. They had a couple big guys. They kept pounding it down low. We kept battling.

"D'Mitri played well. He was a little more assertive offensively. Perry played really well defensively. We got a lot of easy buckets because of our guards putting pressure on them."

BHS led, 22-17, after one quarter, but Oakville (3-3) led at halftime, 37-36, and took a 53-50 lead into the final quarter.

The Raiders were 26 of 50 from the field (52 percent) and 8 of 16 at the line (50 percent).
