NORMAL -- If that 2010 calendar has already been purchased, here's a date to circle.

June 1.

That's the day the Normal CornBelters will play their first Frontier League baseball game at the stadium under construction at Heartland College.

After playing their first nine games on the road starting with the May 21 season opener at Evansville, the CornBelters meet the Windy City ThunderBolts at 7 p.m. on June 1 for the inaugural home game in franchise history.

"With every first year schedule, it feels as if you're waiting on pins and needles until it's made official," team president Steve Malliet said. "Now that we have it ready for group outings and season ticket orders, we take joy in making the first big step by informing people when our opening day will take place.

"We look forward to bringing people affordable family entertainment unlike any other professional minor league organization has offered."

Normal's 48-game home schedule features 17 games in June, 14 in both July and August and three in September. The final game of the regular season is Sept. 5.

Monday through Saturday home games will begin at 7 p.m. with a 6 p.m. first pitch for Sunday contests. The lone exception is a 10 a.m. start on June 16.

The CornBelters play their West Division rivals (Evansville, Florence, Gateway, River City and Southern Illinois) 12 times each, six home and six away.

Normal faces East Division opponents Kalamazoo, Lake Erie, Oakland County, Traverse City, Windy City and Washington six times, three home and three on the road.

Season tickets are on sale at the team's office at 321 Susan Dr., Suite D, Normal. Or a season ticket form can be printed off and faxed to (309) 452-2287. The office phone number is (309) 454-2255.
