NORMAL - As the NFL Draft ended late Sunday afternoon, the fun was just beginning for former Illinois State quarterback Luke Drone and offensive lineman Isaiah Wiggins. | Complete draft coverage

After quick conversations with his agent, Steve Raquel, and Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt, Drone had agreed to a free agent contract with Buffalo. Wiggins is a free agent acquisition of the Baltimore Ravens.

"The whole draft was kind of long. Right after it, I was hoping to get a call and it happened. I'm excited," Drone said. "My agent said Buffalo wanted to sign me. A couple of other teams were interested, but Buffalo was a definite yes. I talked with their quarterbacks coach about five minutes and it sounds like a good situation."

The Bills, who did not draft a quarterback, have Trent Edwards as their starting quarterback with J.P. Losman at No. 2 and Gibran Hamdan listed at third string.

"Their coach said they are looking for me to come in and compete with the third guy and try to make the team," said Drone. "I fly out to Buffalo on Thursday and we have a mini camp this weekend."

Drone finished his ISU career second in school history in completions (610), passing yards (8,123), passing touchdowns (61) and total offense (8,391).

Wiggins, who anticipated his NFL career being as a center, was signed by Baltimore to play tackle, where he was a two-time all-Gateway Conference first-team selection with the Redbirds.

"I just want to do the best that I can, and make a spot on the roster," said Wiggins. "I'm relieved this part is over, and I'm just anxious to get to camp this weekend and start working."

The Redbirds did not have a player selected in the Draft for the first time since 2004.
