BLOOMINGTON - Illinois Wesleyan senior wide receiver Martin Ceisel capped his stellar career Tuesday by earning first-team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honors for the fourth straight season.

"It's a credit to Martin and his teammates who have helped him get on for four years," said IWU coach Norm Eash. "He made the most of his opportunity as a freshman when he came in after the second game and played."

Ceisel and Wheaton's Pete Ittersagen, who was named as a defensive back and return specialist, became the first CCIW players to earn four-year honors since Carthage running back Kevin Burris (1996-99).

A Deerfield High School product, Ceisel had a team-high 61 receptions and 817 yards with seven touchdowns. He finished his career No. 3 all-time at IWU in receiving yardage (3,011) and TDs (30) and No. 4 in receptions (203).

Senior tight end Rick Podkowa, junior defensive back Robert Beauchamp and junior offensive tackle Travis Boothe also represented IWU on the first team.

Podkowa caught 25 passes for 333 yards and three TDs. Beauchamp averaged 6.0 tackles per game with seven tackles for loss and one interception.

Representing the Titans on the second team were junior center Keely Flood, junior cornerback Roman Hunter, senior linebacker Dan Souder, junior linebacker Nick Nikolich and sophomore nose guard Max Brooks.

Souder and Flood were second-team selections last season, while Nikolich was a first-team performer.

"We're very excited and happy for our young men who made all-conference honors," said Eash. "It's a tribute to them that they got the respect of the coaches. What's exciting is that six of them will be back next year."

The first team also included Augustana senior defensive lineman Eric Smith, a Flanagan High School graduate.

Meanwhile, North Central junior quarterback Aaron Fanthorpe repeated as the Art Keller Offensive Player of the Year; North Central junior linebacker Matt Wenger was named the Don Larson Defensive Player of the Year; and North Central's John Thorne, an IWU graduate, was named the Bob Reade Coach of the Year.
