Illinois State outfielder John Rave, a former Central Catholic High School star, has been named to the Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-America team, the newspaper announced Wednesday.

Rave, ISU's starting center fielder, batted .258 with a .352 on-base percentage and led ISU in triples (4) and stolen bases (12). He was second on the team in at-bats (213), hits (55) and walks (30), and third in runs (31) and total bases (77).

Rave had a .985 fielding percentage with 129 putouts and two outfield assists with just two errors.

He was an All-Missouri Valley Conference honorable mention and MVC All-Defensive Team selection.
