Bobcats lose
finale of MCL
title series

CHICAGO HEIGHTS — Connor Spear threw a complete game four-hitter as the Southland Vikings downed the Bloomington Bobcats, 6-0, in the third and final game of the Midwest Collegiate League championship series Tuesday at Hap Bruno Field.

The Vikings took a 3-0 lead in the first inning off Bobcats starter Nick Brune. Southland knocked out Brune with two runs in the third. Jacob Gilmore relieved Spear and allowed three hits and one run in six innings with two walks and a strikeout. 

Spear walked three and struck out one. All the Bobcats' hits were singles.

Bloomington won the first game of the series, 13-11, on Saturday before Southland squeaked out a 1-0 victory Monday at Jack Horenberger Field.
