CHICAGO HEIGHTS — The Bloomington Bobcats overcame a 10-1 deficit to defeat the Southland Vikings, 13-11, on Saturday and pull within one victory of the Midwest Collegiate League baseball title.
The Bobcats (29-23) can clinch the crown with a victory over the Vikings at Bloomington's Horenberger Field at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The Bobcats' rally featured a grand slam by Andy Shadid to pull within 10-5 in the fourth inning. Zach Frey chipped in three hits and four RBIs while Nate Beal had three hits.
Nick Figus had a double and a triple while Addison Fugitt and Jack Butler each had two hits including a double. Winning pitcher Jacob Houghton (3-1) fanned two and allowed one earned run in 6⅔ innings.
