NORMAL – Illinois State redshirt freshman guard Nick Zeisloft will miss the next three to six weeks because of a sprain and bone bruise to his right knee, Redbird coach Dan Muller said Friday.
The 6-foot-3 Zeisloft was injured with 50 seconds left in Wednesday’s 79-59 win over Bradley when the Braves’ Ka’Darryl Bell slid into his knee. An MRI on Thursday confirmed the extent of the injury.
Zeisloft ranks third on the Redbirds with 26 3-point baskets. He is averaging 4.6 points and 1.5 rebounds in 23 games.
ISU (16-10, 7-7), which has won four straight and seven of its last eight games, faces Missouri Valley Conference-leading Wichita State (21-5, 10-4) at 7:05 p.m. Sunday at Redbird Arena.
Zeisloft’s minutes off the bench could be taken by senior Anthony Cousin or junior Zeke Upshaw. Also, Muller said if ISU wanted to play big it could use junior Jordan Threloff up front and move junior Jon Ekey to the wing.
“We have a lot of options,” said Muller. “I’m not sure how we will do it on Sunday.”
