Derrius Rodgers won the 200-meter dash in 21.43 seconds to lead Illinois State efforts in the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational indoor track meet at South Bend, Ind., on Friday. His time ranks fifth in ISU history.
ISU's D'Jenne Egharevba placed second in the women's 200, clocking a personal best of 24.10 seconds to trail only Ohio State's Anavia Battle (23.79).
For the Redbird men, Ryan Ashenbremer pole vaulted a personal best of 16 feet, 4¾ inches to place fourth. Teammate Anderson Devonish also took fourth, running 21.52 in the 200.
ISU's distance medley relay of Kimathi Johnson, Brandon Gage, J.D. LaFayette and Jack Anstey placed fourth in 9:58.62, the fifth best time in school history.
The meet concludes on Saturday.
BHS grad Williams honored: Mount Mary University freshman forward Erica Williams of Bloomington has been named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) women's basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Williams had her fourth double-double last week in a win over Illinois Tech. She was 8 of 12 from the field while scoring 19 points to go with 11 rebounds. She also had three blocked shots and three steals. She is averaging 11.4 points and an AD3I-leading 10.4 rebounds.
