Last week's loss to Southern Illinois has dropped the Illinois State football team out of both major Football Championship Subdivision national polls.

ISU (3-2 overall) was 23rd in last week's Sports Network rankings and 19th in the FCS Coaches Poll.

Sports Network lists four Missouri Valley Football Conference teams in the top 25 with Northern Iowa 15th, North Dakota State 18th, Western Illinois 20th and Southern Illinois 23rd.

The Coaches Poll ranks North Dakota State 17th, Northern Iowa 18th, Western Illinois 20th and Southern Illinois 21st.

Appalachian State is the No. 1 team in both polls.

ISU returns to action Saturday in a 2:05 p.m. Valley game against Indiana State at Terre Haute, Ind.
