The Illinois State women's soccer team ended its 2017 season with a 1-0 loss to Northern Iowa in Sunday's quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at Cedar Falls, Iowa.

UNI's Kelsey Yarrow scored the game's only goal in the 13th minute as the Panthers outshot the Redbirds by a 7-6 margin. ISU goalkeeper Haley Smith made two saves in the loss while UNI netminder Jami Reichenberger handled all four shots she faced.

Illinois State (9-9-2, 3-5 MVC) ends the 2017 season fifth in the Valley standings while UNI advances to face No. 1 seed Drake Friday night in the semifinals.

Soccer tourney fields set: The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's teams both received No. 2 seeds in their respective College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Soccer Tournaments.

The IWU men (11-5-1, 6-2-0) will host No. 3 seed Carthage (12-6-2, 5-2-1) on Tuesday while No. 4 North Central (8-8-1, 5-3-0) travels to No. 1 seed North Park (15-1-1, 7-0-1) on Wednesday. The winners will meet for the tournament championship on Saturday at the home field of the highest remaining seed.

The IWU women (15-3-0, 7-1-0) will host No. 3 seed Carroll while No. 1 seed Wheaton (11-4-3, 7-0-1) will host No. 4 Elmhurst (10-5-1, 4-4-0) with both semifinal matches being played on Wednesday. The tournament final will be held on Saturday and will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.

The winner of each tournament will receive the conference's automatic bid to their respective NCAA Division III Soccer Championship.

Football rises one spot: After its 47-15 win over Elmhurst on Saturday, the Illinois Wesleyan football team moved up one spot to No. 11 in the D3football.com Top 25 poll released Sunday.

Fellow CCIW members North Central moved up from No. 10 to No. 9 while Wheaton slipped one spot to No. 24. The top five is unchanged from the previous week.
