JACKSONVILLE — Junior running back LeAnthony Reasnover continued his assault on the Eureka College record book Saturday with 274 rushing yards and three touchdowns as the Red Devils pulled away for a 37-20 win over previously unbeaten MacMurray in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play at Freesen Field.
Eureka improved to 6-2 overall and 6-1 in UMAC play with its sixth straight win, joining MacMurray (7-1, 6-1) in a tie for second behind St. Scholastica (7-1, 7-0). The Red Devils host St. Scholastica next week.
Reasnover, who averaged 6.5 yards on his 42 carries, increased his TD total to 19 on the season while surpassing the 1,000-yard mark (1,227). He now has 43 career TDs and 3,201 yards in 27 games over three seasons.
He scored on first-quarter runs of 62 and 5 yards to stake the Red Devils to a 13-0 lead. The Highlanders countered with two Marquez Ellison TD runs to pull even.
Eureka broke the tie with 1:43 left in the first half on a 36-yard pass from Nick Holman to Josh Kuse. Reasnover padded the advantage with a 1-yard score in the third.
MacMurray answered with a 70-yard strike from Nathan Randall to Demetrius Curry, but Eureka tacked on a 34-yard Tanner Kuhne field goal and a 13-yard Nasir Phillips run in the fourth quarter.
The Red Devils outgained the hosts, 460-317 yards, with 406 of those coming on the ground. Randall had 252 passing yards for MacMurray, with 145 going to Curry.
