After rallying for a 28-26 victory in a marathon first set, the Illinois State volleyball team hit stride Saturday night and won the next two by margins of 25-12 and 25-15 to sweep Loyola in a Missouri Valley Conference match at Gentile Arena in Chicago.

Jaelyn Keene had 13 kills for the Redbirds, including two in a 3-0 ISU run to close out the first set win after ISU had faced set point on four different occasions.

Lexi Wallen added nine kills and 14 digs for the Redbirds (17-11, 10-5).

Stef Jankiewicz added a double-double for the second night in a row and the 14th time this season with 31 assists and 10 digs. Courtney Pence was ISU's digs leader with 18.

The Redbirds remain on the road next weekend when they face Bradley in a 7 p.m. Missouri Valley match next Saturday at Peoria.

ILLINOIS WESLEYAN

Women's soccer falls: Wheaton's Isabelle Oliver scored at the 13:41 mark of the first half and the Thunder went on to a 1-0 victory over Illinois Wesleyan's women's soccer team in the championship match of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament at Wheaton.

Oliver scored from the top of the box off an assist from Carney Blake. Wheaton earned the CCIW's automatic NCAA Division III Tournament bid with a 13-4-3 record.

IWU, which had two shots on goal to six for Wheaton, fell to 16-4-0. The Titans' Kelli McCarthy made five saves.
