Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Alivia Hay of Mahomet was selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday.
Hay, a Mahomet-Seymour High School graduate, finished second in four events in a double dual meet with Carthage and the Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday.
She was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.63), 200 backstroke (2:17.45), 200 freestyle relay (1:42.47) and 200 medley relay (1:57.90). Her 200 backstroke time was her un-tapered best by nearly 2.5 seconds.
Diver Larson wins award: Illinois State’s Kristen Larson has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week.
Larson, a senior, took third place in the 3-meter dive (199.28) in Illinois State's narrow loss in a dual meet at Ball State. She also was fourth in 1-meter diving with a 153.90.
Soccer players honored: ISU's Kate Del Fava has been named to the Missouri Valley women’s soccer Scholar-Athlete Team, while teammate Haley Smith was among six honorable mention selections.
Del Fava, a sophomore defender, has a perfect 4.00 GPA majoring in agriculture and pre-veterinary medicine. She also was named to the All-MVC First team this season.
Smith, a sophomore goalkeeper, has a 3.92 GPA while majoring in exercise science. She was named MVC Goalkeeper of the Week three times and made 84 saves on the season.
