NORMAL — The Missouri Valley Football Conference is up to seven teams in the FCS national rankings.

Illinois State, which had a bye Saturday, ascended one spot to No. 14 in the FCS Coaches poll and remained at No. 18 in the STATS rankings.

The top four stayed the same on each list with James Madison first, North Dakota State second, Sam Houston State third and South Dakota State fourth.

The FCS Coaches poll has Youngstown State fifth, Northern Iowa 18th, Western Illinois 22nd and South Dakota 23rd.

According to STATS, Youngstown State is No. 6, Western Illinois No. 20, Northern Iowa No. 21 and South Dakota in the rankings for the first time since 2011 at No. 23.

Illinois State faces Eastern Illinois in the Mid-America Classic at 2 p.m. Saturday at Charleston. ISU opened its season with a 45-0 win over Butler on Sept. 2.
