Illinois Wesleyan junior guard Brady Rose was selected to the second team of the 2018 Division III All-Central District squad, chosen by member coaches of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

A unanimous first team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin choice, Rose led the Titans with a 21.4 scoring average and also handed out a team-high 3.1 assists per game.

IWU finished with a 19-8 record, shared the CCIW regular season title and played in the NCAA Division III tournament.

Among those joining Rose on the second team was Shea Feehan of Eureka College. The junior guard was the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He appeared in 22 games with 20 starts, leading the SLIAC and ranking second nationally with a school-record 30.6 points per game.

CCIW tabs Marth: Illinois Wesleyan’s Bailey Marth was named a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) menn’s lacrosse Player of the Week. The junior attacker had eight goals, five assists and 11 ground balls as the Titans went 2-0 last week.

Women's lacrosse wins: Dani Engelbreit scored five goals to lead the IWU women's lacrosse team to a 9-7 victory over Sewanee at Sewanee, Tenn. Sam Bidlack added a goal and two assists for the Titans (4-3).

Sewanee (6-3) outshot IWU 28-23. IWU goalie Janaye Godfrey had 10 saves.

Engelbreit wins award: Engelbreit was tabbed a CCIW women's lacrosse Player of the Week. The junior midfielder totaled 10 ground balls and six caused turnovers as the Titans went 1-1. Engelbreit also had five goals and one assist.


Men's golf tied for second: The Illinois State men's golf team was tied for second place after day one of the Oral Roberts' Bob Sitton Invitational at the par-71 TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas. The Redbirds shot a 6-over-par 290 to trail Rice by five strokes.

Junior David Rauer carded a career-low 2-under-par 69 (35-34) and was in a tie for third on the individual leaderboard. Senior Zach Burry shot a 70 to put him in a fifth-place tie. Junior Trent Wallace shot a 3-over-par 74 and was tied for 28th. 

Women's golf in fifth: The ISU women's golf team was in fifth place after two rounds of the Bradley Spring Invitational at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas. The Redbirds shot 319-303-622. Cincinnati and Houston Baptist shared the lead at 611.

Caitlin Sims led ISU with a 78-75-153 total, tied for eighth entering Tuesday's final round. Teammates Paige Seiser and Kiley Walsh were tied for 23rd at 156.


Softball wins three: Sophomore Elexis Schwartzentuber, a Normal Community graduate, belted three home runs and drove in seven runs to lead Heartland's softball team to a 13-5 win over Jackson College at Leesburg, Fla. The Hawks (7-1) also defeated Marshalltown Community College, 11-3, and the Marian University junior varsity, 14-0.

Freshman Marissa Adams of LeRoy was the winning pitcher against Jackson, allowing three earned runs and striking out two. Maddie Mackey and Amanda Balster hit home runs against Marshalltown, while Audrey Hanouw had three hits against Marian. Mackey pitched a three-hitter in the five-inning win over Marian.
