The Illinois Wesleyan softball team was predicted Wednesday to win the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's regular-season championship.
The Titans topped the annual CCIW preseason poll with 62 points and six first-place votes. IWU, 37-15 overall, went 11-5 in league play and placed third before winning the league tournament and advancing to the NCAA Division III Tournament’s championship round for the second straight year.
Defending regular-season champion Millikin (32-12, 14-2) was second in the poll with 59 points and three first-place votes, followed North Central (21-20, 9-7) with 44 points.
Voting was done by the league's head coaches.

The IWU baseball team came in third in the CCIW's preseason poll, with three-time defending champion North Central picked to win.
The Cardinals (31-18, 16-8) had 58 points and six first-place votes. Wheaton (24-18, 14-10) was second with 54 points and two first-place votes, followed by the Titans (21-20, 13-11).
Reneau, women win: Hayley Reneau scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures as Eureka College earned a 78-54 win over Iowa Wesleyan at Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Samantha Sarnes added 16 points off the bench for the Red Devils, who improved to 17-7 overall and 12-3 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. Lexi Dooley finished with 12 and Kennedy Dura 11, while Kerrigan Dura had 12 rebounds.
Bennington powers win for men: Sophomore Dakota Bennington notched game-highs of 25 points and 12 rebounds, leading Eureka College to a 93-77 win at Iowa Wesleyan.
Hank Thomas tacked on 19 points as the Red Devils (17-7, 12-5) kept pace with Greenville in the SLIAC race.
